Our Mission
To empower women to achieve their full potential in careers as engineers and leaders, expand the image of the engineering and technology professions as a positive force in improving the quality of life, and demonstrate the value of diversity and inclusion. Supporting both students and professionals, SWE consists of over 37,000 members in 100 professional sections and 300 student sections.

FAQs
SWE welcomes all SJSU students who have an interest in engineering and STEM fields! Our members come from a wide range of backgrounds, and SWE is an inclusive space for everyone, regardless of major, gender, or identity, who is passionate about promoting gender equality in STEM.

No payment is required to join! While purchasing a National SWE membership is encouraged to unlock additional benefits, it is not mandatory.
There’s no minimum attendance — we understand you’re busy! Feel free to attend as many or as few events as you’d like; you’re always welcome.
If you want to develop leadership skills and give back to the SWE community, you would be a perfect fit for our board! No previous experience is required for chair positions, just a willingness to grow! Students at all stages, including freshmen, transfer, and graduate students, as well as all majors are welcome to apply.
